Ingredients for Carrot Dog Muffins
• 1 c milk
• 1/4 c canola or vegetable oil
• 2 T honey
• 1 egg
• 1 ½ c whole wheat flour
• 1 c oatmeal (quick or old fashioned)
• 1 c wheat bran
• 1 t baking soda
• 1 t cinnamon
• 2 c grated carrots
• 1/2 c sunflower seeds

Directions for Carrot Dog Muffins


• In a small bowl, using a whisk, beat together the egg, honey, oil and milk.
• Combine and mix all the other (dry) ingredients in a large bowl.
• Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until everything is wet.
• Put the mixture into the greased muffin tins—filling to ¾ full.
• Bake at 375 degrees F for 15-20 minutes for the small muffins and 25-30 minutes for the regular size muffins.
• The muffins will be done when you insert a toothpick in the middle of one, and it comes out clean—nothing sticking to it.
• Turn the oven off and leave the muffins in the oven until they are completely cool.
Store your Carrot Dog Muffins in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Because they are soft treats, with more moisture than hard dog biscuits, they will get moldy if you keep them at room temperature.
