How to cook Steamed Carrot Pudding
Steamed carrot recipe Ingredients
450g (1lb) Carrots, grated
225g (8oz) Suet, grated
225g (8oz) Mixed Candied Fruits and Cherries
170g (6oz) Flour, sifted
110g (4oz) Sugar
110g (4oz) Chopped Nuts
110g (4oz) Breadcrumbs
50g (2oz) Raisins
50g (2oz) Currants
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
½ tsp Cinnamon
½ tsp Cloves
Milk
Method of cooking Steamed Carrot Pudding
Mix all the dry ingredients together.
Add the other ingredients and enough milk (if needed) to produce a
sticky dough.
Pour the mixture into a buttered basin.
Cover with pleated greaseproof paper and foil.
Place in a saucepan of boiling water and steam for about three and
a half hours, topping up the water as necessary.
Turn out and serve hot with custard
